About
Landscapes
He’s been called a Bon Vivant, A Man About Town, An International Man of Mystery, a genius, a gourmand, an adventurer, a numb nuts. But, no matter what it is you may end up calling him, the fact remains that George Johnson is an accomplished landscape, and location and environmental portrait photographer with many corporate clients. His work takes him to a variety of locations shooting for annual reports, brochure and advertising work. He has worked for clients all over the world and was the first American photographer asked by Fuji Photo Film to give a series of professional photo seminars throughout Asia. His career spans almost 30 years and has worked for prestigious companies including IBM, Medtronic, Johnson and Johnson, Boston Scientific, Wright Medical and Bristol Myers. George captures his thoughtful and beautiful images with Zeiss lenses on Canon cameras, or a PhaseOne P45+ 39 megapixel capture back on a Hasselblad for unsurpassed image quality. George makes his home in Beaverton, Oregon.
Portrait of Dr. Gene Z., 2014 This was taken on the day of his 90th birthday. Gene is a remarkable man. Soft spoken, with sharp wit, he was a P-38 pilot in WWII and later became a distinguished professor of English at Fresno State University. We became friends in 2012 and since the day I met him, I wanted to take this photograph of him. This was taken in his living room under natural lighting.

Shaquille O’Neal, Triptych, 2012 Shaq had injured his Achilles Tendon during a play-off game, and for years had not had it treated. I was a hired to photograph him for a testimonial ad about his recovery after surgery using my client’s products. We were joking around after the shoot when I took these photos that perfectly capture his playful nature. Photographed under natural light at his house.
Portrait of Ramona K., 2009 Mona and her husband Paul had come over to our house for dinner. I took this photo in my studio because I to record the lines on Mona’s face and the honesty and sincerity in her expression.
Portrait of Keely S., 2011 Not the sort of thing I usually do, but I thought it would be something different and out of the norm for me.
Artificial Hip Recepient, 2010This kid had recently received an artificial hip implant, and I was asked by the manufacturer to photograph him for an annual report. I’ve shot many annual report photos and really enjoy shooting this type of environmental portraiture.
